After 2 years of development, in partnership with Madreperia, a PMMA manufacturer, GOIOT will, in 2025, propose a new color for ‘greencast’ PMMA, to produce glazings and portholes.
Thanks to its chemical composition, PMMA is a 100% recyclable material. GOIOT carries out a meticulous sorting process within its production with the goal of repurpose scraps and waste, and wants to do more to reduce his environmental impact.
Since 2012, Madreperla has been manufacturing ‘greencast’ PMMA in Italy, using wastes sourced from collection networks. These wastes are crushed and then distilled to create regenerated monomer (R-MMA). In 2022, the process achieved carbon neutrality.
Goiot and Madreperla join forces to develop a ‘greencast’ PMMA designed for marine applications. The challenges of marine environment and UV exposure have been integrated with the goal of proposing the most sustainable solution. The tests for chemical agent resistance, paints, thermal aging, and photo-aging were conducted by an independent French laboratory. These tests have shown that the performance of 100% recycled ‘greencast’ PMMA is higher than that of conventional PMMA. This material is fully complying to a marine application.
